Do network marketers need to blog? I think this is a debatable idea and one I don’t want to deal with in this article. Suffice to say, if you are a network marketer and you do not have a network marketing web presence then you are slipping behind. The times, they are a changing my friend and to be successful these days you must keep up. If you do not have your own website then a blog is the best and/or easiest way to go – partly because it’s free and partly because it’s relatively easy and partly because it works. I am going to give you 4 pointers to make sure you get started properly to have an effective network marketing blog.

First, there are several blog platforms you can use that are free and I would recommend WordPress. WordPress is easy and versatile and one of the most popular and Google loves it. This means it will be easier to get indexed to get traffic. WordPress also has a lot of different plugins, something you’ll want to Google to find out about that provide additional functionality. Plus there are a lot of different themes you can use to begin your network marketing web presence, which means you’ll have a great chance to find one that suits you. So using WordPress is one way to be sure to have an effective network marketing blog as you begin to build your network marketing web presence.

Second, be wise in choosing your theme. I’ve recently learned that when Google crawls your blog it typically reads from left to right. The reason this is important is because if you have a sidebar on the left with links or anything that is always the same then Google reads it first every time and considers it duplicate content. Duplicate content is not good and will hurt your rankings and thereby your traffic in the search engines. So pick a simple, easy to navigate theme with navigation bars on the right side allowing Google to read your new posts first. This will help to ensure an effective network marketing blog.

Third, to build your network marketing web presence you should post to your blog regularly. Update your blog at least every couple days and try to be consistent. Plus, always try to post something of value for your readers. This can possibly be the most difficult part to building an effective network marketing blog. So, it may be wise to plan ahead a little and gather information for good post topics. You can write them all ahead of time so it makes it easier to stay on track. In fact, you can set up WordPress to auto-post for you as in every couple days or so which is something worth looking into.

Finally, and not the least import is that you should host the blog yourself and have your own domain name. You’ll get more Google love this way and rank higher in the search engines. You can find good quality hosting for less than $10 a month and a domain will cost you less than $10 a year. I decided creating an online presence was the way to go so I started a website. I didn’t have much help but this seemed like the way to go. It had been a couple of months and my website was getting very little traffic – maybe 10 or 15 people a day visiting, but no contacts were made.

One evening I decided to check my website stats. When I logged in, there had been over 300 contacts made. I KNEW it had to be an error. No way I had that many. I had been getting pretty discouraged at this point and even 3 contacts would have seemed like a miracle. I restarted my computer to clear the ‘bug’ and get the real stats. But when I logged back in there were over 400 contacts and growing. Long story short, I got over 5000 contacts that week.

I have been a true believer in the power of the internet and its ability to get people ever since.

The work I do today and put out there can be found 24/7 and it is working for me today, tomorrow and many months or even years from now.

Video is becoming very popular and a great way for people to really see who you are. Creating a video can be a little scary but can actually be quite easy. You don’t need any fancy equipment or studio, just a desire and a message.

Squidoo allows you to make a lens. This is really just a webpage. Squidoo is like Youtube in that you can create content that is intended to help people and create interest in you and/or your product. The big difference is with a Squidoo Lens you are getting your message out using the written word.

Facebook and Twitter are great ways to network and make new friends. YouTube and Squidoo let you get content on the web to attract people. These are just 4 ways among many that can be used to get yourself out there and start attracting people to you. Try them all and pick the ones that fit your skills and interests and you are on your way to building a great downline.

By simply sharing what you know and helping people you can become the expert that attracts and not the sleazy salesman who chases people down. By becoming an expert in any one or more aspects of building your business or working online you become someone people want to follow. Everyday more and more people are joining the ranks of the Network Marketing biz and they are looking for someone to help them realize their dreams. Just be there to help.

It doesn’t take a lot, just focus on learning something new that would help you build your business. If it helps you it will help others. Once learned, the skill becomes an asset and makes you an expert. Soon the student becomes the master.

When starting something new take the time to focus. Go through the stages of orientation, understanding, putting into practice and finally completion. Don’t jump around from one thing to another before you have fully understood the first. Creating a daily, weekly and even monthly action plan can keep you on track to learning new skills that can then be used to attract your downline. Pass along your plan that you have followed and create a “how to” for your new downline.

Having a plan and a way to get from newbie to experienced Network Marketer makes you the leader that people want to follow.

So find the leader that has the plan to get you going and along the way pick out the parts that fit your style. Turn it all around and become the teacher building your own downline. It is as simple as paying it forward.

So don’t be scared to take the plunge on your new journey. Learn then teach. Focus on learning something new that builds your business and then share it with the world. Use the power of the internet and free social marketing to attract your Network Marketing downline. Along the way use your knowledge to create an income from your marketing techniques. Stay focused and you too can build a downline and a business you can be proud of.
