Network Marketing, We Do All the Selling For You? Don’t Fall For It

December 14th, 2009

You have probably seen the sales pitches from network marketers saying thing like “we do the selling for you” or our system does the selling for you”. Network marketers are going way out of their way trying to convince people that they can sign up with them and make money and not have to do any selling. Does this really make people money?

The answer is yes it makes a lot of money for the sales people who are claiming to make all the sales for you. But I have been involved with network marketing for many years and I have yet to know anyone who has made any substantial income by letting someone else do the selling for them.

All the people who I have known who have made a lot of money or even a living in network marketing were good at sales. And all of them who made money did so because they were the ones doing the selling.

Why are so many network marketing distributors claiming you can make money without selling? It’s because they know most people don’t like to sell. Not only that but most people are not good at selling and most don’t want to become sales people. So in order to be able to recruit the masses many companies and their distributors come up with ways to convince them that they can join and make money without having to sell.

But in reality if you want to be a success with network marketing you are going to have to get used to the idea that you are going to have to sell. Not only that but you are going to have to get good at selling. The ability to sell is an excellent skill to have and network marketing is a great place to get these skills, but most people have no business being involved in network marketing.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think network marketing is a great opportunity. However, it’s not for most people. It’s only good for people who are good at selling or who want to be good at selling. I think the industry would have a better reputation if it would stop pursuing the masses with misleading claims by people seeking a quick profit. Distributors can do better in the long term if they learn how to only recruit people who are right for the industry. I have free tips on how to do this on my website posted below,

For people who are not good at selling or don’t want to sell there are other opportunities besides network marketing and internet marketing, The problem is you don’t hear about them much because the opportunities don’t depend on selling the opportunities. For more information about that visit my website below.

MLM Strategies – Network Marketing Strategies Your Upline Won’t Dare Tell You

November 21st, 2009

I’m going to bet that as soon as you signed up as a distributor in your network marketing business, you were told to go home and write down a list of 100 people you know…all of your family, friends, acquaintances, etc. You may have even been given a workbook that would assist you in creating this list…don’t forget your dentist, the clerk at your grocery store, the librarian…sound familiar? Your next mission was to sort this list into groups of people that would, of course, purchase your hot new product, and those that would jump at the chance to join you in your opportunity. You dutifully did this, and started dialing the phone, anxious to get your business growing. What did you get for all this effort? I’m thinking that the results were not what you expected.

Your upline promised network marketing would be easy…after all, that’s how they built a huge downline, and are getting paid $10,000 a month on a regular basis, working a mere 20 hours a week. Now, your head is about ready to explode, questions spinning out of control. Questions such as:

How does my upline REALLY do it?

I’ve spent all this money…where are the results I was promised?

Is it me? Am I a failure?

I really love my product, why am I not selling more?

Everyone needs this product…how can I convince them? (Sound familiar?)

OK…STOP RIGHT THERE! This is your first bad assumption…NOT everyone needs or wants your product. Stop trying to “convince” everyone with a pulse that you have what they need! I know this is what you’ve been taught, it’s commonly known as the “3 Foot Rule”…anyone within 3 feet of you is a prospect. Don’t do this! By now you have probably alienated all of your friends and family…in fact they may not even answer the phone when they see you are calling. You can’t even enjoy a social event anymore because you are too busy stalking out your prey…figuring out how to approach your next victim! Sound familiar? Trust me, I know, I too have walked that beaten path! Looking back, I was pathetic…I even annoyed myself!

But don’t despair, you can succeed in your network marketing business. They say the definition of insanity is to keep doing what you’ve always done and expect different results…so STOP! If you are willing to stop wasting your time using the network marketing strategies your upline told you to use, and learn the strategies that will help you succeed in network marketing, then it’s time to take action. Your network marketing business can be successful…you know you are willing to work hard, you just need to know what to do.

So, you’re wondering “now what do I do”? Every business is a relationship based business, network marketing is no different.

You have to learn how to build relationships with people that are already looking for what you have. How do you do that? The following network marketing strategies will change how you operate your network marketing business.

You must first work on developing communication skills. Becoming effective communicating with the phone, the written word, and the internet is an absolute necessity if you are to build a successful network marketing business.

Find your niche, learn who your target market is. As I’ve already mentioned, forget that list of 100 friends and family, save that for holiday greetings. You must know who your target market is…those individuals that have expressed a need, want, or desire for exactlty what you have. Learn how to do this, and your business will explode.

After you’ve identified your target market, and have developed your skillset, you have to communicate with your audience. You can build your network marketing business by buying leads, and using the telephone to contact them. A second MLM strategy is to use the written word and advertise…there are dozens of options here. You can put ads in magazines, direct mail, or any other type of print media. Then there is the internet…where you can reach millions of people without ever leaving your home.

Once you master your skillset using the above mentioned MLM strategies, you will move forward in your network marketing business. You will be able to position yourself in front of people that want to hear what you have to say, and in turn, have them reaching out to you, instead of you chasing them down. Imagine people you’ve never even met, and probably never will, calling you for information! When you build relationships with these people, some will become prospects, others won’t.

So, ditch your upline’s outdated MLM strategies, and invest in yourself by enrolling in a training course that teaches current network marketing methods and strategies. MLM is indeed an exciting business, if you have the proper tools and know how to use them. So open your mind to learning new MLM strategies, and move forward today.

The 4th Lost Rule of Network Marketing Success

November 6th, 2009

Here is a common question heard from many network marketers a few months into their business.

“What do I do when my warm market is gone?”

Your business is not going to fail because your friends, family, or co-workers do not want to join you. Just accept this as normal, and that that they are not right for your opportunity at this time. In addition, although your warm market can be your best option for customers and business partners, sometimes it can be the most challenging.

What else can you do to generate new prospects?

Some people like to buy leads. There are several different types of leads. Some lead companies collect data from the web, while others do infomercials and direct mail campaigns to acquire the leads. Then they sell these home based business leads to people like you.

If you are going to buy leads there are many options available one we can recommend is Cutting Edge Media. They have high quality leads, and some of the most qualified leads that we have seen.

If you do not want to buy leads, and prefer to develop your own leads instead, then read on.

Network Marketing is all about building relationships. There is an abundance of clubs, associations, and business mixers in your local area that you can join that will be terrifically beneficial for your business. In addition to learning new skills, you will learn about other people, and you will have the opportunity to build new relationships, with people outside your current circle. Don’t go into it expecting to recruit people into your business. Look at it as an opportunity to meet new people – and if the opportunity presents itself, and the timing is right – then tell them about your business.

Some other ways to build more relationships are to join clubs, attend classes, or go to business mixers. The world around you is filled with organizations you can join to meet other people who have similar interests. Think about organizations you are currently involved in or ones you have been in the past.

It can feel awkward to start building new relationships, what do you do with them, outside of the class or organization your part of together? Playing MLM The Game is one fun way to learn about new prospects and to open their eyes to network marketing.

Go out this week and find a workshop on something you’ve always wanted to learn. Take a pottery class, sign up for martial arts, or join an adult sports league.

For example:

Public Speaking is a skill that will most definitely propel your success. You can challenge yourself to become greater by joining a local Toast Masters group or any other public speaking workshop. Here you can practice your Why, get better at story telling, refine your language, and best of all get a non-biased critique back! Who knows, maybe you will also meet your next powerhouse of a leader!

Your ability to consistently find new people to build quality relationships, will allow you to frequently open up a new network of people to share your business with.

There are countless ways to meet new people that you may have not thought about. One of the best ways to do this is through the people you already know. Just think of the last boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse or partner you had, for instance. How did you meet them? How did you meet the current love of your life?

If you are like most people, then it was probably through the people you know. Furthermore, most people also often find the best jobs, clients, and friends through people they already know. Your business is no different.

On a parallel note, here is something that is often overlooked; the network of people who are NOT interested in your business. What about them? After all, they also know people you don’t, and for this simple reason alone, you should be interested in them.

Just because someone you approach isn’t interested in your business, does not mean that his or her friends or family will not be interested. When someone says “no” to your business, thank them for listening, let them know how committed you are to the business, and that you would have enjoyed working with them had they been interested. Then ask them if they know of anyone, a friend, a colleague, or a relative that might be interested in the opportunity. Be bold and ask their permission to contact their friends, family members, and associates. Ask them for a list of people that they think might be a good fit. You would be surprised how many prospects you can get out of a “no”. In fact, it may just make them change their own mind altogether!

Another fantastic strategy is online searching. Network marketing in this day and age has been blessed with the power of the internet. Now, more than ever, people are developing relationships online, which quite often turn into relationships in person. Social networking online has created a revolution that network marketers like you MUST take advantage of. If you are not a member of online communities like Myspace, Pathconnect, Friendster, Ryze, Linkedin, etc., then sign up for one that interests you. There are many more, in fact too many to list, but these are the ones we have found to be some of the best for business.

This phenomenon of modern technology has multiplied the concept of meeting new people, and meeting the friends of people your new acquaintances. This is perfect because it provides a presorted filter of people values goals and interests.

Although we are advocates for avenues of networking such as this, we offer a few words to the wise about using social networking website to do business.

There are TONS of people in network marketing already taking advantage of social networking websites and most of them are doing it wrong. So in a way, you have a tremendous advantage if you do it the right way. Don’t be like most amateur networkers and make the same mistakes they are making. There is an abundance of people making wild income claims that deface the value of network marketing because they simply are not true. Furthermore, most of them do not take the time to build the relationship before offering their opportunity.

Just because you have the power of the internet at your fingertips, does not mean you don’t have to build rapport. In fact, it means you need to put MORE effort into doing so. As we all know, the internet can be a feeding frenzy for scam-artists and shady individuals alike. Lying or stealing innocent people’s hard-earned money is a common threat in today’s society, which is why we are teaching you how to distinguish yourself from inauthentic people who don’t take the time to build the relationship before offering their opportunity. If you take the honest approach we are teaching you, people will appreciate it, and be more open to doing business with you.

Whether you are networking online, at a coffee shop, or even at a friends house. Use the skills we have taught you in building relationships, and your journey to success will be not only smoother, but hopefully an enjoyable process.
